Are you familiar with the game? Battlefield. It’s an illness really that has spread throughout many a male in our area. Sam included.  Â
So, last night we were at a BBQ. Ron & Sheryl have a beautiful back yard and have just remodeled their house, so they invited our entire bible study over for burgers. (thanks guys!!) We were all sitting out back, chatting; girls on one end of the table, boys on the other end. I happened at the time to be sitting next to Sam, about a chair’s length away. As we were talking I said something to the effect of almost being able to hold my hubby’s hand. He ignored me.Â
As i was sitting talking to Katie and Amy I said “yeah, I can say Sam, Bible, Abraham Bible, Vienna and many more things… but if I said say…. “Battlefield” …” Nearly INSTANTLY Sam turned his head to see what we were talking about!!! NEARLY INSTANT!!!!Â
Proof positive. Men, at times, have selective hearing

It’s finally happened! Sam is out of the house! Our wonderful landlords (my parents) redid the shop area into an office for Sam… we’ve been working on it quite some time and have finally got the paneling up and carpet down and things finished up enough for Sam to be out there. So we’ve moved him out. (We’ll post pictures soon) It’s so nice for him to have his own space, much more quiet and able for him to focus. Nice for us too that Vienna and I don’t have to worry about making too much noise (not that we were really good about this anyway) but it does mean he’s farther away and harder to disturb. I still make a few treks out there each day to see my love. But he’s fully moved and now “leaves for work” in the morning. This means Vienna now has her own room… well, sorta.
In moving Sam out, we’ve had to rearrange part of the house; namely the book cases. Her bedroom floor is lined with books awaiting a new home on the shelves. The shelves however have been so over loaded that I can’t get any chachkis on them… and we all know how much I like to have my chachkis out!!! Especially our travel ones… so, we’re waiting for a remedy on that one. I’m filling the shelves in the living room first with chachkis and books I want out/close. Then we’ll figure out what to do with the rest of the books. Vienna has SEVERAL shelves already full… Disney video’s, McGee & Me’s (that her grandmother collected even before I or her Uncle Craig were even married, and have been waiting for a grand child to arrive!!!) and books… (yes, again, grandma collected on “our” behalf!)
Vienna has slept in her own room now for three or four nights. It seems so strange not having her right there (and nice as well, I can flip over in the morning and not fear waking her!!). She did not do well for her first nap in there (and naps are still a struggle). But this morning she scared us by sleeping in until almost 8 a.m.!! (there is something reassuring about being able to see and or hear your baby breathing!).Â
Now if we could just get her to play in her pack & play without getting upset… she’s like her daddy, she needs the wide open spaces!!!

FINALLY we have a tooth that is coming up and staying up! You can see the whole top of it, it’s basically flush with her gums at the moment, but you sure can feel it! Might I just say… SHARP!!! Geesshh! You can hear it scrape on the spoon unless you use the ones covered in plastic… yeah… just like a chalk board!!! eeeewww!! We’ll be getting a few more of those plastic coated spoons! Auntie Krista got us some, but yeah, this mommy doesn’t hand wash often (and they are heat sensitive, they turn from color to white to tell you baby’s food is too hot) and they aren’t dishwasher safe… my solution?? BUY MORE!! I am American after all!
Another “finally” is Vienna is actually crawling now!! Yesterday she crawled two feet
Tonight she went about four feet! Whoo hoo progress! –though in the back of my mind it’s… Crud~! time to baby proof!!!!– Her favorite thing to do though is to stand up! And she’s beginning to pull herself up on any and everything she can get a good grip of! She has fantastic balance, but you won’t see Sam balancing her on his hand like our brother in law Dan did with his kids (yeah, the kids stood on his one hand and he held them out without a safety hand!!!!)…Yeah, no, in this house, it’s STRICTLY forbidden!!
The Tude is now beginning to show through too!! Oy Vei!! Unfortunately in this respect she takes after her mother… If one does not respond to Lil’Miss quickly enough or not in the appropriate manner Lil’Miss will make a demanding “grunt” sound… yeah, it’s real attractive.. it especially happens when she’s being fed and you aren’t shoveling it in fast enough for her!! Yeah… sadly this is from her mom too… Sorry Baby!!! But we’re working on nipping this now before it gets to be a big habit. We’re trying to teach her sign (not going so well) but she knows to say Mo-Mo (more) instead of screaming… but I think she is testing the waters. But it very well could be that her teething is effecting her too.
Her favorite food is Puffs. These little puffy cracker cereal type things, she would eat the whole container if we’d let her!!! So, we have to ration out the puffs… and heaven forbid we run out!! (which we have!!)Â
But hey, with all the teething, tude and crawling at least she’s worn out so much more and getting her naps and sleeping all night!! ahh… I’ll take the tude in exchange for sleep, any day!!

Aaaahhh… there’s nothing so sweet as the smell of a rose! This last fall we found 20 rose bushes on craigslist and were able to dig them up and transplant them into our yard for free. Several of the bushes didn’t look like they were going to make it at all. Miraculously they all are doing quite well!!!! I clipped these first three blooms from my garden this morning. The pink one is called Pink Peace and the cream with pink edges are called Summer Fashion and they both smell wonderful!
The weather has been so nice here lately, and after MONTHS of not blogging anything it just seems like a good day to blab a little.
It’s amazing how just a few months ago that are yard had nothing in it. It’s all green now (never mind there are still a lot of weeds mind you, but we are working on it). There’s still not a lot of landscaping done or anything, but hey, it’s still beautiful, and we are so thankful to be in a house on a little lot.Â
Vienna LOVES being outside. If we leave her on her blanket though she winds up eating the grass! Which is not so bad… yesterday she was trying to eat an ANT! So usually we take her out there in her walker, it’s a little safer. I know it’s just a little protine and a lot of fiber, but I still don’t like the thought of ants!!!!!! She thought they were spectacular.

Our indoor challenges are eating related as well. Her recent fascination is finding the popcorn granny kernels that I accidentally spilled when I dropped the popcorn bag the other day… even after vacuuming she’s been able to find two of them!!!! If its not kernels it’s fuzz, if it’s not fuzz it’s hair… she LOVES to play with hair (at least she doesn’t but hair in her mouth!!)Â
Well, her nap will be over soon, I’d best get cracking at dinner before she wakes up!! Have a great day!
