Blessed!

March26

Four Years!  Four wonderful years!!   Tomorrow is our wedding anniversary.  As I look back on everything that has happened in my life over the last four years, all I can say is I am Blessed!!

I have the best husband in the world (ok, so he doesn’t let me pout to get what I want, but that’s about it!) and we have a beautiful (almost 2 can you believe it!?!?) daughter and another one on the way in July.  We’ve lived and traveled all over the world, something I’ve always dreamed of and are privileged to live near family who love us.  And who even watch Vienna on a pretty regular basis so we can still have a “couple” life at times!  So nice! (we get the whole afternoon/evening tomorrow to celebrate! Thanks Mom & Dad!)

We live in the “perfect” little manufactured home, never mind it’s not ours. And live the “mini van” life I’ve always seen myself living.  We’ve had the privilege of working in the best service in the world and are looking to get back into that service whenever He leads.  We’re blessed for now to have Sam’s business from home so that we get to see him regularly.  We’re blessed to have family in service over seas who stay in contact with us over the miles, and family across the states that we have been fortunate enough to see several times in the last two years we’ve been living in the states.  Some may look and think we don’t have much (and compared to a lot in this country we’re on the lower end of the “haves”) but we have a happy little life… and I wouldn’t trade that for the world!!

I love my husband with all my heart, he was well worth the waiting!!! (we married when I was 33!).  He is such a Godly man, who strives to seek the Lords Kingdom first and who is quite a supportive and understanding man!  He’s a WONDERFUL father and a talented designer!!!  (He makes the best websites… especially when clients let him do his thing!!) I’m proud to be called his wife, and I’m so thankful that he saw me for who I was, and loves me as I am, with all my faults and strengths.  Thanks Sam for living this life with me!
I LOVE YOU!

THIEF By Third Day

March22

One of the greatest songs ever written, sung by the incredible band Third day!!!!

From the recording: Third Day, Track #6.

I am a thief, I am a murderer
Walking up this lonely hill
What have I done? I don’t remember
No one knows just how I feel
and I know that my time is coming soon.
It’s been so long. Oh, such a long time
Since I’ve lived with peace and rest
Now I am here, my destination
guess things work for the best
and I know that my time is coming soon
Who is this man? This man beside me
They call the King of the Jews
They don’t believe that He’s the Messiah
But, somehow I know it’s true.
And they laugh at Him in mockery,
and beat Him till he bleeds
They nail Him to the rugged cross,
and raise Him, they raise Him up next to me
My time has come, I’m slowly fading
I deserve what I receive
Jesus when You are in Your kingdom
Could You please remember me
and He looks at me still holding on
the tears fall from His eyes
He says I tell the truth
Today, you will live with Me in paradise
and I know that my time is coming soon
and I know paradise is coming soon.

HE IS RISEN INDEED!!!

March22

Isus voc kres! (HE IS RISEN!)
Vo istona voc kres! (HE IS RISEN INDEED!)
(I wish I could type in Cyrillic!! )

I don’t remember saying these things growing up in church.  I know that many churches do, but I just don’t recall that being a part of our church tradition.  But i really liked it when we lived in Latvia that when you went to church you would have these other believer friends BEEMING at you “HE IS RISEN!” shaking your hand and just so glad to see you there in church Easter morning.

I think we forget the joy this Celebration is supposed to be here in the U.S. We fret over getting our kids the right Easter outfit, on our inevitably tight budget (well, at least I don’t have very many rich friends).  We fret over what to fill the baskets for the “easter bunny” to leave for the kids.  We fret and fuss over the Easter Brunch or Lunch or Dinner or Linner that we are planning, especially if we are having guests. The more important the guest, the more of a Martha we seem to become. Ironically I think we worry and fuss more if those guests are family sometimes too!  And I must admit that my first Easter morning service in Latvia much of my focus was spent on remembering how to pronounce the Russian (Vo istona voc kres, isn’t such a common term!).

Today in Oregon it is BEAUTIFUL out! This goes a long way for me to just be able to sit back and enjoy the day and reflect on the wonderfulness of this life we live! My house currently is TRASHED!! Most of this week it has managed to stay clean, but the last day and a half have caused quite a mess with doctors visits and my working on our taxes (Praise the Lord they are almost finished and were not as difficult as last year!). When I say trashed I mean, gross mess too!! (and why is it that my father didn’t come see us all week, but happened to stop by to get something from us this morning!?!?! they always see the house trashed! oh well!) But this morning, despite the mess, and the prego sickies, I got up and made my family Eggs Benedict (my first attempt) though we are calling them our Tomb Eggs. Why? Because I got to thinking how they reminded me of the shape of Resurrection Cookies. They are domed like resurrection cookies, but these have something in them, so tomorrow we will have the empty tomb cookies!! I think this may be a new family tradition. This got me thinking.

Most people think of the Tomb being full as a sad sad thing… but I don’t in the Tomb for me is WHAT actually has saved me, cleansed me, covered my sins… ALL OF THEM, no matter how horrible they might be… Covered, cleared, PAID FOR on that Cross where He died! What a JOYOUS sacrifice was made. That HE would lay in the Tomb for three days, THREE DAYS in a guarded tomb where there could be no doubt that He had died, before He came back from the dead, broke free of the grave and went back to Heaven. I don’t know, yeah, so it was painful for him, but it was a free gift, and He gave it willingly, and that is reason for joy!

Have a happy and blessed Easter everyone… and if you haven’t yet, just accept the price He paid for the things you’ve done… you won’t find a better deal ANYWHERE!! Need help knowing what to do or how to learn and trust… there’s lots of great churches out there… and I bet you have friends that attend some of them!  You’re welcome at ours as well! www.meadowsprings.org (Sam did this website by the way… isn’t he good!?!?) :)

Pathetic Piggies!!!

March14

HOW DO THEY DO THAT?!?!?  I’ve been in stores recently where I’ve seen little girls, younger than Vienna, with less hair than Vienna with the cutiest little piggie tails.  What do these mom’s do to get their kids hair in piggie tails?!?!  Do they somehow get their daughters to go comatose so they don’t squiggle around?  Do they pull their hair like crazy to get it up in those tails?  What the stink! I can not figure out how they do it…it’s nearly impossible to gather it all up, with a decent part in her hair… She looks sooo cute in her tails:

And I would LVOE to be able to get them up there NOW… I can not wait until her hair gets long enough :) (Especially so people will stop calling her a boy…even though she’s almost always in pink and sparkles!!) but this is what I get when I try to pull her hair up:

Oh well, I’ll keep practicing until I can get it divided in a nice pretty line :)   it may be a while!!

Of B-I-N-K-Y and JUICE!!

March14

Apparently Vienna has already learned to spell.  If you say Binky she will instantly start hollering for her binky… she’s addicted after all… last night my mom spelled the word binky… guess who totally understood!?!?!?!  Yeah, I’m sure it’s because spelling binky kinda sounds like binky too, but still… what’s a parent to do!??!?
Then there is juice.  Juice has become somewhat of an issue in our house.  Vienna loves all things Apple!  Many mornings her first word is Apple… she wants her morning apple sauce!  Well, now it’s juice.  She can be quite forceful in her requests for juice… (which sounds more like DUCE!) yesterday she got right up in my face, leaned in and while SHAKING with force screamed DUUUCCEEE!!!!  Needless to say she was not given juice until she asked nicely!  Milk is another favorite. She gets more milk than juice.  So if she lucks out with juice then she just goes to asking for milk.  Hey, at least it’s not soda! :)
